Florida Kidcare
Healthy Kids
Florida KidCare is the State of Florida's high-quality, low-cost health insurance for children. The program was created through Title XXI of the Social Security Act and reauthorized in 2009. Through its four partners, including Florida Healthy Kids, the program covers children from birth through age 18.
Eligibility
Florida KidCare is for children, not adults. To qualify for low-cost coverage, a child must:
Be under age 19
Meet income eligibility requirements
Be a U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizen
Not be in a public institution
How to Apply
Some Florida KidCare programs may have limited space. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. When MediKids, Healthy Kids and the Children's Medical Services Network are full, enrollment for these programs will close, but Medicaid is always open for children who qualify.
Families can call 1-888-540-KIDS (5437) or complete an online application to begin the application process.
An application will be valid for 120 days after Florida KidCare receives it. Florida KidCare will notify you if the application process is not completed within 120 days for MediKids, Healthy Kids or the Children's Medical Services Network. To restart the application process, call 1-800-821-5437. An application may also be picked up in the school office. An application that is older than 120 days may still be used to determine if your children are eligible for Medicaid.
