Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Prekindergarten services are provided to children from 3-5 years of age who meet the criteria for any of the following disabilities as defined by the Florida Department of Education and in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). To encourage a positive learning environment that stimulates and nurtures children’s growth and development through the use of traditional and progressive teaching styles which address the needs of special learners. Through teacher-directed, student-directed and structured play activities, children learn developmentally and age-appropriate skills in the areas of cognition, social-emotional, physical, language, and early literacy. Our programs foster independence while preparing children for kindergarten transition and beyond.
Services
The following services are provided to children who have been evaluated and determined eligible, and consent for services has been granted by the parent/guardian:
ESE Prek services in a classroom setting with support from an ESE Prek teacher at selected locations
Speech Therapy
Language Therapy
Based on the specific exceptionality and its impact on a preschooler's social and academic performance, the IEP team evaluates and recommends services to support the child’s IEP goals. Below is an overview of the available services and programs:
